How Do I know if Someone is Addicted to Drugs?

If a person is compulsively seeking and using a drug despite negative consequences, trouble with the law, poor grades, loss of job, debt, physical or mental problems brought on by drug abuse then he or she is probably addicted.

    Consider the following questions:

1. Do you ever use drugs or alcohol to relax, feel better about yourself or fit in?

2. Do you ever use drugs or alcohol when you are alone?

3. Do your family or friends ever tell you to cut down on your drinking or drug use?

4. Have you ever gotten into trouble while using drugs or alcohol?

Is addiction a brain disease or a character problem?
Addiction is a primary, chronic, progressive disease that has its roots in genetics and brain chemistry.
